Bangladeshis in every nook and corner for sure. The journey return home was a revelation. At Rome the flight was delayed by 5 hours and i wandered around. The Air India passengers were distinctly Indian. Mixed largish groups of Bengalis, south Indians were obviously travellers. There were quite a few Punjabi families with kids dressed mainly in traditional attire.

Casual conversations revealed that they were not on vacation but travelling for a vacation back home. The other end of the spectrum. Engineers working in factories, businessmen making waffle cones, supplying readymade garments. Mostly from the North.

I wondered aloud if they were comfortable in this obviously Italian place. They have reasonable sized Indian communities. The kids go to schools here. They have a comfortable life with all the perks of the First World- good food, healthcare, a decent life, a good pay which has enabled them to save. Some I spoke to had homes in Italy and in India.

Like all other immigrants I dont think they will return. They speak fluent Italian and the kids will never wish to return after having tasted the so called good life! As with Indians in all other countries abroad.
