The Qissaa, the anecdote, albeit story of mine

Why “Sutradhar”… Sutra is the thread, the yarn, the narrative… “dhar “ is holding together, the knot, the weave. Together it is the raconteur, presenter. Hence the epithet!

A woman who was taught to fashion a career out of academics and managed to achieve the merits. My heart however has remained with the Arts! Literature, philosophy. Colours. Textures and designs   fascinated me as did Indian myths and traditions. I loved soaking in art – paintings, textiles, nature, people, stories. When my son took over the test prep I had started the natural transition was to let go. A retired woman, a lot of free time. Idling was not in my DNA. As I rummaged into myself I found no significant talents that could be nurtured.  Appreciation, yes! Activity, NO! Art, Music etc etc. My love for handlooms gave birth to Qissaa.

I took the plunge and indulged in a spree of handloom buying, creating and Qissaa was born. An eclectic lifestyle store.  I always wanted a space to share conversations and stories. I found it and the launch was tailor made. Paramita Saha curated a beautiful piece. We all spoke about our saree journeys. A sharing, a moment. Important for me an unabashed lover of the six yards.

We went onto share beautifully curated  meaningful event. Happy journey albeit an expensive mistake . A learning definitely!

More about my downfall. Pride they say…. Pride it was
